Hey!!! All you NEETs, nerds, YouTube link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis, Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers, Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters, Big-boobs fans, Weeaboo from around the world, learners of Japanese who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, cunning linguists, stupid fan girls of Johnny's Boys, Touhou pirates, and that electrical super-gay who suffers from mental disease - This is your thread! Let's hope the Internet-addicted housewife will come back soon!
Previous thread >>999 It is easy to use this site with apps. It's so sluggish when viewing with browser. I don't know whether this is an useful site to practice Japanese. I tried to search the suitable board but I cannot find it cuz this is a dedicated site for Japanese native speakers. Maybe you can create a thread here in English board as long as you can find a pretext that the thread relates to English in some way or just write something here in Japanese.
Oh hell no. I've just got relocated to yet another office where I can only find guys to work with. How fucking less motivational. Seriously at this point in my life, I would have been so much better if born as a gay, then my office should have been the gay-hoe's paradise.
Looks like Team Japan put up a good fight last night (or this morning). Hope it will be a stepping-stone to our first tournament victory in the future. I'm probably misusing the word stepping-stone, but you get the idea.
By the way, I think they lost because the original fortune-telling octopus was shipped to the market before the match. At first Japan was winning by 2 points because of my superstition power. But then they suffered the nightmarish 3 scores because of the curse of the octopus. In the end, the combined power of my superstition and the reverse jinx I set up last night was not greater than the curse of the shipped octopus (red devil).
Yes, I truly hope so. I'm most impressed with their toughness and composure. How calm they were when asked some questions by the rescue team! I'm sure I would have been panic-stricken in that kind of situation.
And I also noticed some of the boys putting their palms together in front of them probably to show their gratitude to the rescue people. I thought it was because they are Buddhists. I guess they make that gesture in their daily lives.
Your remark reminded me of Frankenstein. I have never read the book and have long wanted to read the original. I've found the text on Gutenberg.org and learned also that there is a Japanese translation on Aozora-bunko. I've just read only the first and the second paragraphs and found them very difficult, but the story seems intriguing. I think it will take me a very long time to read it, but I want to try it little by little.
Frankenstein... Haven't heard that name in a while. I once saw the book in my toy chest when I was a kid, which by the way, was the one my sister had borrowed from the local library; and even now she hasn't quite returned it yet. I think she's a Franken-whore.
Wow this heavy rain must be so very deadly!! News said there has been dozens of casualties mostly because of mudslides. The western region has been experiencing some nasty natural disasters these days. What did they do? Did they piss in front of the god's statue as part of their daily comedy stunts? Well, apparently they were too funny.
Some people are saying Japan lost to Belgium because Japan didn't strengthen the defense after scoring 2 goals. Some are saying that's because the coach was concerned about the previous match so he stayed offensive and aimed for the third goal. Seems like the coach himself has said something about it in an interview. I don't know exactly what was in his mind, but that's nonsense. I don't know much about soccer but I'm sure switching to a defensive stance after scoring 2 goals is a normal tactic. (Whether it would have been better against Belgium or not, I don't know) Not doing so because he got booed for what he did in the previous match (and maybe wanted to make up for it) makes no sense.
Japan should conduct research on those "gray zone" passing/delaying tactics in football, so that they can do it with deftness and without hesitation if the need arises in the future. I think the decision whether or not to employ those tactics should be based primarily on the practice of the football world. It should not be based on the volatile bitching voice of the media and SNS.
My post 50 might be unclear so let me rephraise it. Japan should study the history of the use of those tactics in the European football leagues or something and follow the precedent. Hope this sentence makes sense.
Don't you think your affection for her only exists in your fantasy world where her being your favorite anime character? It's not like it's a bad thing, but every time I hear someone is into some voice actress, I just can't shake this idea off my head.
Anyway I finally watched Brazil-Belgium match. I'm stunned by the Brazilian players' quality. They were precisely controlling the ball as if they were doing it with hands. They seem to be doing different sports. Unbelievable...
If they're so good, it must be very handy to think that they can use both their hands and foots to give pleasure to their partners. With that, they should look like a human-spider on the bed, or Brazilian Spider-Man.
>>65 No, I really love her. I can't stop thinking about her. I'm so jealous of Japanese because they can attend her events and buy her goods in stores and understand her radio shows.
>>69 Actually, most of my English comes from porn stuff, so it's only natural using this way. >>71 How can you so desperately be in love with someone whom you can barely understand? Let's say there's such a thing as "love at first sight" crap, I bet you haven't even met her in person, have you?? >>72 I laughed so hard to this.
>>80 It wasn't love at first sight, I knew about her after I learned she voices my favorite characters and started to love her over time after seeing and knowing more about her. I can understand her a little more each day by learning more Japanese and seeing her interactions in videos, and reading interviews and her Twitter with Google Translate. The only reason I haven't seen her in person is because I live on the other side of the world. But just seeing her through pictures and videos and hearing her voice makes me happy. I have no friends or family that I care about, so she's the only one that can comfort me.
>>89 Well, You can swim to her if you want. You are a good guy, so I'm just hoping here that I won't see you on the other side of those bars if you know what I mean.
You should never politicize any disasters. And you completely misunderstood the situation. The Prime Minister stay informed about the disasters. Commanding rescue effort and holding press conference are completely different things.
Again, do not try to politicize natural disasters just only because the timing of press conference. Do not!
And he clearly instructed the maximum rescue effort at least by 7 July. Who can criticize this as late. You keep writing nasty things from World Cup to this disaster. I want to know what drives you.
>>112 It's a typical response. Labeling others who have different opinions as right wing or something. That kind of cheap characterizing only debunks who you are. And unfortunately, I'm the last person to be called right wing.
Hi, I bet you guys are all familiar with the moments that on the train you get an accidental boner when a girl standing in front pushes her butt right up against you as if she's seducing you by doing so.
I honestly believe when the rain killed off those people, Abe was indifferently taking a shower while humming in his stupid face. Because I can easily picture that.
>>128 Though I don't support him, it would be none of his business. Any politician should not be judged by such an attitude or appearance. I have a cool view point about it.
Of course, must be cool for any junior high schooler to have a nihilistic viewpoint like that, hah? In reality, it's all about the acting skills and how you look serious about tragic events like this so people will recognize him as a reliable and compassionate leader, which will eventually benefit him in many ways. You see? Everyone wins in this scenario. That's politics.
Who will be impressed by these exchanges. To be more accurate, I wonder who you address. Honesty, I know your intention but you did it too much so that no one will be impressed.
A cute cat strays into my house. Before entering my house he stared me through the window. He might think I allowed him to enter... but I can't keep you stay here.
He's right. In the strict sense I think humidity is the key factor that influences your perception of the heat. I flew to Okinawa few years ago in the summer. Once I took a step outside the plane, it almost felt like I just got into a sauna because of its hellishly hot & humid weather.
>>155 Is it right? They say it's more comfortable in Okinawa than in Tokyo especially in the summer. One of the most hellish climates of the world is found in the mainland of Japan because hot and humid atmosphere which comes from the equator falls around Tokyo. It is also true in case of the winter.
It's too hot to go to beaches anymore. Statistics shows that the number of people going to the sea in summer are rapidly declining. Summer becomes dangerously hot. We have no choice but to attribute this to global warming.
>>157 You didn't get my point. I meant your simple measurement of the temperature will be relatively less crucial in terms of determining whether people would actually feel it hot being there. So instead I thought humidity was the one that plays the key role there. Also, you can't compare your subjective observation to those of others. Some people say it's hotter in Tokyo, others might not. (Though I didn't say anything about Okinawa is the hottest area in Japan) And Okinawa is way closer to the equator than Tokyo. I think you are referring to a phenomenon called "Heat Island", means the temperature will be higher in densely-populated areas due to the higher rate of its people's activities.
It's clear humidity affects how people feel the heat. Some air conditioners have functions not to lower temperatures too much while keeping humidity low. This is very useful function.
Kyoto city renews the record of temperatures. 38 Celsius degree is unbelievable.
>>159 I understand you just mention the humidity on how people feel it hot, but it is determined not only by how close to the equator the place is. I just wanted to say the hellish climate with high humidity is brought about by the climate change. The atmosphere heated near to the equator once fell down on a lower latitude before, but now it falls down just around the main island of Japan.
So frustrating that my company commits its hardest to some eco-action bullshit. Thanks to that, the A/C in my office are set at like 30 fucking degrees. I'm not even sure if it's working at all. Some of my colleagues even fan themselves using uchiwa. Preserving the environment is important, but isn't that too ridiculous to strictly follow those standards when people are distracted from their own work.
Did you know today is an emoji day? Apple is celebrating the day. It’s kinda annoying because Apple is acting like it invented emoji. We Japanese invented emoji. Apple is acting like Koreans.
On your daily commute to your workplaces you are promised to encounter many of strange people whose actions sometimes you can't bear watching straight. One time I ran into this sick weirdo who had a big smile on his face all alone. At first, I thought he was just chatting with a girl next to him, because he was totally facing on her direction. But I couldn't quite tell since I always listen to music while on trains. When I watched two of them closely, I noticed the girl looked very uncomfortable as he was closing his face on her. Yes. He was a retarded molester. To my shocking surprise, he then started smelling her hair while smiling, and the girl was just too afraid to do anything about it. Had been a while I saw a thing that genuinely made me sick back that day.
>>192 No. He is a pervert. He used to play with his nipples while staring at his target. But one way it escalated into playing with his dick and then he was arrested.
I’m staying at a hotel right now and I’m so bored that I just started watching some porn on TV and I’m kinda shocked to realize that blurring is so strong!
Seriously, what's the point of making mosaics obligatory even for conventional plays? People are doing it with a "horse" or taking a shit in some videos. They should ban them first.
I don't know how much money sponsors will pay, but is it comparable to the amount of money Japan as a whole will spend? As one of Japanese and avid swimmers, I am really disappointed to hear this news. Athletes and the host nation should come first.
I agree with accepting immigrants and refugees, as many developed countries have achieved national welfare and high happiness degree by accepting those who pay consumption taxes. The Japanese regime of excessive refusal of foreigners is just like a kind of ignorance of the world.
The Japanese language can pack a lot of information in a short sentence. 72 letters
This difference could cause some trouble when using social media. Ability to write quite a few things in a short sentence could be used in a harmful way. I've seen many cases celebrities are offended by nasty comments on their social media. Of course, celebrities overseas may also be annoyed by trollers but damages sustained in Japanese seems much severe.
I think Japanese celebrities should rethink how they deal with social media.
>>230 I remember I had passed one of the universities you mentioned with just English and Japanese tests... I wondered whether it was a right thing to enter universities with just two subjects at the time. Now there are many ways to enter them so it won't to be a matter. But at the time it sticked in my mind.
>>232 Oh you are right. I think he doesn’t know his level and I’m pretty sure he will not be able to get accepted by Keio and compromise and then will enroll in some less-prestigious university.
Why do you think so? I think Muslim does not accept in Japanese. We know religion is an illusion, and its role is only formal or ceremonial in cultural activity.
I heard she makes ginormous heaps of mountain right out of her beautiful ass twice a day whilst crapping sound as good as her voice echoing throughout the building.
I cannot get used to flick imput when writing in Japanese. Actually, it is a faster way to write compared to Galapagos mobile phones. But it is not intuitive so it entails some stress.
By the way which is more neutral?
It is a faster way to write. it is faster to write in it.
I'm not used to comparative forms in restrictive use in the first sentence. It is also not intuitive for me.
Hi. My name is Kumagaya-city from Japan. I just recorded yet another highest temperature in the history of Japan. It's 41.1 degrees Celsius. I hope people will die because of my heat.
Tell me the definition of netoyo. I've never come across any person who can explain that. I can imagine your agony living in this situation but the way you resort to is counterproductive. I hope you guys find better ways to improve your situations.
>>223 We are not hypocrite do-gooders like the Europeans. They are the ones who are going to be poor when internal conflicts break out in the future. The West has a tendency to follow whatever trendy shit they have taken out from their ass until it ends in global disaster. Last time it was imperialism/colonialism, which Japan mimicked and went to hell. Globalism/liberalism is the new trendy shit and it is guaranteed to cause disaster again. Japan should never mimic it this time.
>>252 I put value on cosmopolitanism where people of any race can fairly chase after wealth, being independent from any restrictions by government to which they belong. That's why I agree with the globalism. I think people who want to be free from the culture where they've been born have a right to immigrate to another country. Diversity should be based on individualism.
>>253 You are either not getting or evading my point. No amount of such rhetoric will stop the conflicts nor ease the mind of the people stressed and threatened by the growing number of immigrants and refugees.
>>258 I don't think immigrants and refugees cause the stress. In fact the national happiness index is much higher in Sweden, one of countries which accept numbers of immigrants and refugees.
>>258 I don't think immigrants and refugees cause the stress. In fact the national happiness index is much higher in Sweden, one of countries which accept numbers of immigrants and refugees.

hi there. tonight is tenzin-festival whichi is one of most popular summer festival at Kansai region. all i want is that any リア充 will be burned by the heat of celciuse 38 degrees. lolololol
Not just from the heat. After the festival, they all are gonna get drenched to the bone with sweat from having a hot wall-slamming session with the partners unlike ourselves staying home just being losers.
Is it possible to have Summer Olympic Games in this heat? Late July to August is the worst season to play sports. We should move up the schedule to early July or postpone it until October. The effect of global warming is coming faster than most of us had expected. We should rethink the schedule.
>>264 Happiness index? You shouldn't base your thoughts on such a superficial thing. Sweden is the most indoctrinated do-gooder country in Europe. It is the model district of do-gooders. They get called nazis and racists if they raise voice against immigrants and refugees, so they do nothing until it's too late to take back their country in a nonviolent way. That's basically what I meant by the first 2 lines in 252. They don't stop until it ends in disaster.
In the broadcast of Brexist on our TV, a random woman interviewed in London before the vote result was literally saying "No more foreigners" or something. She seemed tired of them. If you have actually followed what's been happening in the EU now and still think like 264, I have nothing to say to you. (Not that I wanted to argue with you to begin with: I replied to you first but my intention was to just post my thoughts in this thread)
So, according to the forecast from the Meteorological Agency, another typhoon will be likely taking a steep curve left and might be right on its track directly towards Honshu region. And you don't want to believe this, but she's probably landing here Saturday or Sunday. Seriously, go the fuck away.
Participants in this thread are getting fewer and fewer. Two or three people are writing the same things again and again. Maybe summer heat causes this anomaly.
now full of the scam ADs falsely claiming sister site aside from the fact that the GOD has made familiar foreigners sick of this place by swearing at them
>>307 IKR? Those people are crazy. Maybe they know all too well that they are too retarded to join the Japanese community. So, this is actually the only place they can barely communicate with others; because in English, their second language, people usually won't bother to point out how stupid their comments are. The worst part is they think their English is at a very fair level while most of their sentences are either full of grammatical mistakes or are just pathetically unnatural.
You guy aren't communicate well each ohter. You guy can wreite only single sentence, furthermore your English is lousy Are you all below average in intelligence?
I just got some NG word error and I have no idea which word it was. Apparently it wasn't Fuck China. I'll try posting it tomorrow or tomorrow's tomorrow.
Ay ay ay... my parking roof was almost blown away last night. Because it was large and heavy, and the sides were just so sharp that if crashed into a person it could have cut him in half. Since there was nothing I could do about it except tying it down to its supporting pillar with some vinyl, I couldn't sleep well worrying about it.
>>323 That was tough. I wish you a good sleep tonight. 2018 is a tough year, isn't it? Earthquake, heavy rainfall disaster and typhoon… I hope everyone is safe.
>>325 What kind of sins have we made? I was born in Japan but I'm a weird international Japanese as I've lived and worked abroad for several years. Furthermore I don't like a typical Japanese who goes against the Western standard.
>>324 Oh, thanks. Yeah it sure is tough. This year it's like our environment's been trying to collect all the debt we owe him at this point in time. But, what I'm afraid the most now is that that earthquake in the Chubu region everybody's been talking about these years, whose scale is said likely to be equivalent to that of the Tohoku Earthquake years ago. I thought the earthquake last month might be triggering it somehow but strangely enough there hasn't been single perceivable earthquake ever since. It's like the calm before the storm. I'm so scared I'm peeing in my underwear.
Did anyone hear that Takashi Yamazaki will conduct the olympic ceremonies? I think that he must have been chosen because of some of his VERY Japanese 'good old days' movies, and I'm a little disappointed because I was expecting something new. What do you think?
Well it’s obvious she slept with so many 業界人 including her current husband who is originally from notorious Dentsu even though he had a wife and child. Ringo is very infomous for destroying married couples.
>>337 I don't think so. As most of the Western countries don't interfere with a personal life a like France, so your outdated way of thinking is rather the national shame. Love should be free from the social chain named marriage. Your idea is so childish and goes against the Western standard.
Lol Japan is not a western country. Did you know that?
Also she worshipped Hitler and even nicknamed her car “Hitler”. So many people were suprised that she was chosen as a member of the Olympics comittee because of that.
I hate "real Jews" like Hitler and they are ugly as they are Asians. And that's why he wanted to deprive Germany of the Western modern democratic society, and his desire had been realised in Japan. I hate Japan as long as there's neither democracy nor individualism in her.
>>344 Are you sure about that? Because even within the current system of wedding you are not getting any pussy at all, you're just gonna make the impossibles even more impossible.
>>347 Because if it really gets to be free and without any legal constraint, most girls will go for popular guys, and with just you and them you won't stand any chance at all.
There are ice creams that can keep its shape for one hour out of fridge. Substances extracted from strawberries make it possible. I learned this from Reddit, which is a good place to know various things.
I gave it a try. It's still in the developing process, though it has improved drastically to the extent that I can easily understand the meaning of the translation.
So if this was a sci-fi movie, this thread would be one of those dystopian world where actually and truly skilled people are all gone because of the people's stupidity. How sad.
I have a question for everyone. What language can you speak except Japanese and English? I do not speak only English and Japanese. But as you can see my English is poor.
It's outrageous that highschool students should be playing baseball in this baking heat. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have a heatstroke and die. Asahi would have to take the brunt of criticism then.
Sure. It's just part of their training to get ready for becoming a member of society and meeting unreasonable requests from their future boss. No matter how ridiculous they might be, it would be totally justified under the idea of "work ethic" deeply ingrained in Japanese mindset,
The famous essayist Koizumi Yakumo (real name Lafcadio Hearn, whose father was British/Irish and mother was Greek) said that the ancient Greeks and Japanese are the only people who have a love for insects, in comparison to the brutal Romans and (in his words) human-centric Christians. I think he would be very disappointed if he saw what Japan has become (he came here in 1890 and died in 1904), but anyway, I too have little interest in the Roman Empire and Christianity and a strong interest in Greek philosophy, so maybe there is something between us and Greece.
As a long article maniac, I finally found the longest article ever. More than 30,000 words! I'm interested in how long it takes for native speakers to read this article.
>>400 The most important thing for the average American is what the TV tells them is important. They spend all their time watching TV or on their smartphones. Sometimes they do both at the same time. Few people read books in America anymore.
>>402 No things did not change all at once and all of a sudden. Nor is the problem restricted to the supporters of one political party or another. It is "across party lines"
The number of people reading books also decreased here in Japan, but reading ability itself does not seem to have decreased accordingly. If so many people have such restricted reading skills, it should be attributed to other factors includig a wealth gap or something.
People read books because they had nothing else to do, not because they were more intelligent and had a greater thirst for knowledge. It's just that TV games, smartphones and other things have replaced books as a means to kill time. I see nothing to worry about in that.
It seems true that rates of literacy in the U. S. is in the level mentioned above. it could partially be ascribed to its diversity in the first language.
Adoption of summertime sounds ridiculous! The bad effects of summertime became a subject of discussions in Europe. Summertime might affect health. A lot of people have been taken to hospital with heatstroke so far, and I don't think that it'll be easy for elderly people to adapt to summertime. What will happen if summertime is adopted?
I'm against introducing summertime just for the one month long Olympic Games. Many industries will be forced to change their system, which costs them huge amount of money. And Japanese people not living in Tokyo areas should not be made to accept such summertime. Nobody wants to get up two hours earlier than usual!
It is called daylight saving time in the US and summertime in the UK according to the dictionary but BBC call it daylight saving time. I'm confused.
Anyway, I think it is impossible to introduce daylight saving time by the next year. We need more time to prepare if we adopt it. China and Japan are one of rare countries refusing adopting it, but I don't like the notion of changing the time of a clock twice a year.
Philippine English is not American English or British English. Philippine English has a Filipino accent, and its expressions and usages are peculiar to the Philippines. Even highly-educated Filipinos speak with a Filipino accent. I have spoken with dozens or even hundreds of cultured Filipinos, and I found that their English is full of mistakes. Filipino-accented English has faults, especially in pronunciations, prepositions (equivalent to te, ni, wo, ha in Japanese language), nouns in the plural, auxiliary verbs and countable nouns. In addition, numerals and genders. The reason is easily explained. Their language does not have the same grammatical rules as real English. In actuality, they speak Filipino-accented English with their own grammar and pronunciation. Although several millions of Filipinos can communicate with each other without difficulties in their English, it is not American English.
I think that Ireland is a good place to study abroad. This is because every English teacher speaks RP, very nice British English, and many of them are also good at teaching. Moreover, diligence and having a fervor for education are part of the national character of Ireland. I have often heard that Europeans strongly recommend Ireland rather than the UK as a great place to study abroad. They said that although the UK is a good place for a vacation, Ireland is the best place to study. However, it is true that ordinary Irish people speak heavily-accented English. You should consider whether it is acceptable or not.
>>421 I'm totally for that DST thing. I wonder why everyone hates it that much. It will give us a proper motivation to get up earlier and lets us have some more free time after work to engage in our own hobbies, which would otherwise be wasted on sleeping too much, shunning from the reality that you have to go to work that day.
>>427 Philippine English is not American English or British English. ↓Recommended Philippine English is like neither American nor British.
Even if Spanish language, there are many types by the country. In Spain, Spanish language is like Spanish. However, in central America, Spanish language seems to like English. And also, in south America, Spanish language seems to like French.
It may be good for us that English language has many types by the country.
>>431 Changing time itself is a huge burden. If someone wants to take advantage of the summer sunshine they just get up early in the morning and not tell others to do the same things. It should be up to everyone's choice.
>>433 You've got a point there, I can totally make some time during morning all on my own. But wouldn't that be even better that if we got to make use of our time without being worried about the work later on? I mean, just waking up earlier doesn't mean we can go home early too.
>>433 I can understand your point to some degree. But it's obvious that changing sleeping pattern causes some health problems. We need social wide agreement to bring about such a drastic change and we clearly don't have time to implement it by the next year.
>>444 Yes. I am actually over 6 feet tall, well built for a skinny guy, and have straight natural red/brown hair. I have never had a gf though, and I'm currently prioritizing work.
>>446 I think he is not the best, but he's not bad either. I don't trust or listen to either side of the American mainstream media (CNN or Fox, anything in between), because they are always trying to spin everything to fit their narrative. (CNN acts like Trump is the devil, Fox says everything he does and says is amazing/sucks his dick)
He has done some good things while he has been in office, although he often says dumb things on social media. I like how he respects veterans and puts us first, but that sometimes strains relationships with other countries (which I don't like).
To be honest, I think too many American politicians have been TOO accepting of other countries lately. For example, there has been a huge issue in certain states because immigrants will come illegally to our country and set up their own gang networks among innocent communities of legal migrants. The legal migrants come out themselves to protest the government allowing this to happen- telling stories about how family members were raped or killed because of the migrant gang violence, and yet the government does nothing. So when someone like Trump got elected, it made me happy, even though I might not agree with everything he says. It made me feel like, "Oh, at least we are not going to get stepped and spat on for the next 4 years".
All in all, I have a positive opinion of him, but I keep my doubts. I knew he would end up winning before the election because of how big a meme he had become (lol).
Repulsion for mainstream media pervade in Japan too. They are viewed as establishment and existence to be challenged. As a result, their influence seem to be decreasing gradually. This might be global trend.
On social media in the US it's pretty common to see/hear people talking about the horrible changes Europe is making- the latest being a bill that would make Europeans have to get a card, similar to an id or license, to view porn (even online).
I can only imagine the government would have easy access to your records if this happens. Meaning they can see all the nasty stuff you have looked at/searched. It's hilarious to me someone thought that would be a good idea.
>>451 North Carolina. I'm not in one of those weird rural states where the water is full of lead, but I'm also not in New York or Miami. To be honest it's really nice here. There's a lot of people and plenty of things to do. There are cities in this state a reasonable drive away. I'm sure international news shows a lot of riots and crime going on in the US, but over here in NC it's really calm- even in the cities. For example- after Trump got elected and the news was showing riots 24/7, people who wanted to go to those riots had to drive up to other states to get involved. Just like anywhere else in the world, there are areas of the US you should avoid if you want to live a peaceful and happy life.
The tech boom that's been happening lately here has been attracting a ton of indian people- which isn't that bad, as most of them are nice. Unless you work in retail (lol). Living here is a little expensive, but there is plenty of business in the area to compensate. Not much to say other than that. North Carolina is a great place to live, but it wouldn't be that exciting to visit alone.
>>438 Health problems? What are you, 75 years old with heart attack history? Despite your concern over shifting in our work hours somehow affects people's health, I think it's safe to say there won't be any major issue in light of the precedent set by other countries. Also, it will be this one time thing, if people hate it, we wouldn't be hearing about it for the next couple of decades, I guess.
No one wants to get up two hours earlier than usual just for the Olympic Games. It entails costs, preparation time and stress on health. Practically speaking, it is difficult to implement such a system in just one year.
And frankly, I'm no longer very interested in the games as it is determined that swimming finals will be held in the morning. The most interesting event will not to be held in the primetime here.
>>463 Eat something tasty (not something healthy), watch something funny (not something useful), write down your issues and sweep them out of your mind, then sleep tight.
Some EU member states dislike daylight saving time and the EU is now doing a survey to assess whether or not they keep it. And I'm stunned by the fact that some US states do not adopt it.
>>463 Your life will never change if you just sit there and hope for it. Figure out what you want, and chase it! Even if it's girl's panties, if you want it, go for it! Just don't commit a crime please!
To help you, here is the easy guide to becoming happy from a formerly shut-in gaijin who now earns respect from others.
>>463 Step 1: stop masturbating so much. I know it sounds silly, but hear me out. You should only ever masturbate when you are really horny- not when you are bored. If you find your brain thinking "why not masturbate" instead of "my cock is about to explode I'm going to bust one out right now", you are doing it too much. Never ejaculate two days in a row (especially at the start). Fill that bored time by working towards a goal- I recommend working out. The more you do this, the closer you will get to your goal. This will boost your self confidence, making you more attractive and less worried.
It can be really hard at first. But please trust me and try it. You will start to feel yourself having a lot more energy, and wont want to go back to fapping every day.
Especially for Japanese people I can see this being very difficult. This is something incredibly important. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU GET 8 HOURS OF SLEEP EVERY NIGHT. always. Don't lie to yourself and say, "oh I will be fine tomorrow". do it. Sleep is very important to your health, and if you don't get enough it can have serious negative effects. If you miss a full 8 hours for even 1 day, your brain will not be able to process information as fast, and you will feel sluggish all day. If you regularly miss sleep, it can damage your brain. Morning time is very nice, so be sure to enjoy it.
I had a lot of trouble learning to force myself to sleep, being a former insomniac. Try listening to something soft, like an audio book or ASMR while lying down, to keep your mind from thinking about bad things. If you still have trouble sleeping, it is most likely due to your brain staying active and preventing you from relaxing. Try to follow a train of thought- think about something positive- and then try to think slower to allow yourself to relax. I really recommend ASMR though. It will give you the most relaxing sleep, leading to the most energy in the mornings.
Another important thing for those who work: if you have a goal you are chasing very seriously- especially something based in skill- that you do every day, try to do it during the mornings. This is when you will be feeling refreshed, and your mind will be the most open to learning and forming new ideas. Even if you do not have a shounen- manga-style goal, try to wake up a couple hours before work to have time to yourself. It can be hard, and you will have to sacrifice some parties, but it will be worth it. You will feel much more fulfilled in life being able to take time for yourself in the morning, and the ladies find it very attractive when their man is up beforehand (seemingly) getting things done.
Oh, and waking up to an alarm is important. Even on your day off, set one. You can give yourself an extra hour or two, especially if you missed an hour the day before, but never more than two. You should always be waking up to your alarm. Never hit snooze.
If you are a guy, working out is important. I get it, not every guy is the type that will look good muscular or have an easy time making it to the point of being fit. But for us it has a huge impact. Working out in the morning may make you feel tired at first- this is natural. As you get used to it though, it will make you feel happier throughout your day and give you a big boost in confidence. You don't have to do it to get a beach body. Do it because it makes you feel good. Then show off after a couple months (lol).
Learning to hold a conversation is hard, but you can only learn it from experience. The more you talk to people, the more your personality will develop. Don't be fake, and don't talk too much. Sometimes people will like you more if you know when to be silent and just take in your surroundings. Always be confident. Even if what you are saying is not particularly interesting or funny, you can still captivate people with the way you say it.
The most important part of having a conversation is UNDERSTANDING WHERE THE ENTERTAINMENT IS. You will often have to think about what you are going to say beforehand, don't be ashamed. For example: when someone asks you what you have been doing today, you can say "I played dark souls." or get embarrassed and say "Nothing much". Especially with a girl. They might not want to hear about games, and think you are nerdy, right? Wrong. You just have to KNOW WHERE THE ENTERTAINMENT IS. Try something like "I was playing this game dark souls. The boss was so hard that by the time I beat him I felt like I really was a hero who slayed a dragon! I died so many times thinking "What? He can do that?". So when I won I felt like I really did something great, (etc.) Even if you are doing something boring, try to find an interesting way to think about it. Also, if you are worried about being too nerdy for a girl, try to steer the conversation in a direction she can relate to, and never talk too much about the actual process of whatever you are doing unless she asks. Too much detail turns women away instantly, because they think you don't understand they have no knowledge of it. If she waned game facts, she would go to wikipedia. Try and always end your story in a way that makes it easy for her to relate to it.
Self deprecating humor is not attractive to women (but it's always funny to men), so try not to do it around them.
Step 5: Always be self-analytical. This is the only way to get better at anything in life, so don't do it only when you need to. Take some time to reflect on yourself every day, with these four things in mind: -What do I want -How do I get it -How far have I come from where I started -Am I satisfied where I am If you ever reach "yes" on the last one, make sure to keep doing what you need to so that it stays a "yes". Then, when you are sure you will continue to say "yes", find the next thing to work on. If you need help getting motivated, think about the worst outcome. Then think about what you will do so that worst outcome never comes true. Build on it, and make it so the thing you want comes true.
Final step: Posture If you are sitting, standing, crouching, whatever- always have a straight back and your head held high. You will have better breathing, leading to better focus. And posture is HUGE to women. If they see a guy who is always slouched or has his shoulders forward, they will immediately form a negative opinion (yes, good looking women are this ruthless). Try to focus on pressing your shoulders back so they are even with your chest. your back can bend forward a little as you puff out your chest. This is optimal manly posture. Be the man you always knew you could be. Don't be afraid of your nipples sticking out too much and be confident in your body- even if you puff out your chest, people won;t know how your body looks under your shirt any more than they did before. Own it. Even if you are chubby. Plenty of chubby guys puff out there chest here in America and it actually works really well.
>>463 Only other piece of advice I have is "if you are feeling tired early in the day, and you have had enough sleep, take a break and eat. Not a snack, something filling that will give you energy. If you are a skinny guy force yourself to eat more. You will feel a huge difference in energy, as if blood is finally rushing back to your brain. I have experimented so much with my own hunger/fatigue that I can now feel when my brain is starting to slow down from not eating enough specifically. I could be tired from something else, and still feel when my body needs food for the energy before hunger actually sets in. If you feel hunger in your stomach, you are well past the point where your brain has started slowing down from not taking in enough nutrients.
Good luck, brother. I hope you can make a place where you are happy (that is NOT in a coffin).
This is something I've been feeling for a while, but there seem to be a lot of politicians and others who are waiting for an opportunity to suck China's cock. If people show any kind of friendliness to China or its people, they will sell our country to China in 2 seconds. In order to prevent it, the only option we have in a dumbocratic country like ours is to be cold and stern and shout Fuck China like people were doing on 2ch when there was some incident.
Our politicians etc are already starting to suck China's cock, it seems. Fortunately, other countries seem to have become aware of the Chinese threat.
>>481 Weebs. Weebs influence other people in their country to think that anime = Japan. So foreigners go there expecting over-the-top craziness, spiky colored hair, and what they get is a country of conservative-minded, respectful, and quiet people. Very few actually take any notice of Japan's real culture, and just like anime.
At least that's what I think. I may be wrong or over generalizing.
<<485 I could relate to that in here. Otaku people think anime's been accepted in mainstream culture and people from other countries like it too, despite the fact most of us don't care for it much. Honestly, seeing those flyers using anime-like character as promotion put up all over the place disgusts me. It's just so cringy and almost unbearable watching. It's good that they have their own interest, but just because they like it doesn't mean we all like it either. It's like they're forcing their ideals onto everyone else. That action itself will be frowned upon regardless of whether it being anime or not.
>>490 All ads are aimed at certain segmenents of the population. There is no such ads that try to attract everyone nor assume that everyone like them. If you are not happy with some ads, then just ignore them. Do not rush to the conclusion that they are forcing you to like them, which they aren't.
490 is also wrong about otakus thinking their stuff has been accepted. It's the (shitty) government that has been pushing that stuff to the world. That and local governments etc using it to attract otakus to their towns and shops because they tend to use money generously. But 490 has been wrong about almost everything, so I don't care.
>>492 Because the person has typical thinking patterns and wants to force them on to others. In other words, what the person says is completely predictable and easy to identify.
>>492 What are you talking about? Some ads are for raising general awareness of whatever they want to spread out among people. And I didn't say they are "actually" trying to make me like them, I just don't like their way of advertising stuff where they assume people also like their character in particular drawn-style (which I think most people find disgusting) That I said "IT'S LIKE they are forcing their ideals onto us". >>494 What government?? I didn't know there's a government that has an influence over how companies advertise their products or services or whatever. You have a tendency to make it sound like bigger deals than they actually are. You need to ground yourself first. I'm not here to listen to your stupid fairy tale. And you better change your attitude about all the right/wrong bullshit. No one believes what they are saying as objectively and universally true. We are here to exchange opinions.
>>496 The Japanese government. They have been pushing anime and stuff as a project called "Cool Japan", and I believe they are providing subsidies to various anime-related things. It was mainly a response to the second sentence of your post >>490 and not specifically about the fliers/ads.
I said you are "wrong" because I believe the second sentence of 490 is objectively not true, and also because you were complaining in 490 as if otakus are forcing their culture on us by using anime-drawings in non-otaku-related companies' ads, which I believe is not the case. If you were comlaining about otaku-related-companies using anime-drawings in their ads, that would be another (retarded) story. If you want to argue about it further, tell me exactly what ads you are complaining about.
These are only a few examples to show how often we could have to face them in the ads recently or currently aired on Japan. Just look up the words on Youtube if you think otherwise. As for the flyers, I don't remember the company's names, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it many times before in my office's hallways or at some stations.
>>I said you are "wrong" because I believe the second sentence of 490 is objectively not true
Do you know what "objective" means? I know there's a chance that this might not be one of those otakus ideas, but how can you be so sure when it's not shown in number or without you actually seeing it with your own eyes?
There might be practical reasons why some companies use anime characters in their ads. For instance, Otakus don't hesitate to spend money to get anything that has even slightly to do with anime, even if it costs them far more than it's worth. And companies have every reason to capitalize on that, don't they? Or it might just be that using anime characters costs less than signing a contract with actual acters/actresses. Anyway, I think the recent upsurge in anime ads is mostly about making profits, not preaching Otaku culture or something. if most people find these ads disgusting, companies would drop them immediately or wouldn't let them go out in the first place. It would badly affect their sales otherwise.
>>498 The anime style used in those 3 commercials are not really otaku stuff. Those are cinematic anime style which doesn't cater to otakus only but is accepted by a wider audience.
Seeing your over-the-top disgust towards the flyers, I thought you were complaining about more otaku-ish things like "moe" or some vulgar stuff. If you were complaining about the kind of stuff shown in the videos from the beginning, then I just pity you for having such a morbidly low tolerance to anything anime.
But for the sake of the argument, let's say those commercials are disgusting otaku shit that is only accepted by otakus. Now, were the decisions to make and air those commercials made by otakus? I don't think so. Otakus are not the ones who are making the disgusting anime shit ads. Rather, the companies make those ads to attract otakus like >>503 said. So otakus are not the ones you should be blaming for the disgusting anime shit ads. That was my point from the beginning.
>>503 That's true. Maybe people don't like them as much I do. But personally, I won't stop using their services just because I hate their commercials if I need it. Ironically, these anime ads are mostly from major companies so perhaps it just wouldn't immediately result in decrease in their sales because people need them. >>504 I said he can't say it's wrong when they can't be observed on a numerical scale or are "objectively" evident to everyone's eyes. I didn't say anything about we shouldn't talk about each of our subjective viewpoints here. Just go back to sucking your mother's breasts, illiterate dumbass. >>505 What makes you think they're not?? Their drawn-style quite resembles to that of recent anime, or at least much different from the other ones that's generally seen as normal & ordinary, and weren't uniquely produced in Japan. I doubt that they are widely accepted, It's just people usually won't give a damn about stuff that doesn't worth paying attention to. When they watch it, I think most of them might not feel comfortable as you think they do. And yes, I especially don't like those just boys & just girls stuff. Are they nuts? I mean, they are like national broadcasting of porn videos. There's gotta be something wrong about this country to think THAT and you guys defensing their stuff here. Maybe nerds aren't solely responsible for all this, but it won't change the way I feel about seeing them in public. >>506 I don't think they are innocent at all. And I'm not mad. I'm just so embarrassed and disgusted to the fact that some people are ok with them aired on TV & used as promoting characters.
This line cited from your comment is directed at 492 rather than 494 who said you were wrong. If I were you, I can't bear this shame lol.
And you said,
>It's like they're forcing their ideals onto everyone else.
It's clear that you're trying to impose your skewed views on others even though you have said like this. Your comment is full of contradiction. You are not rational in all senses.
Again your reading skill is extremely limited. You don't reach C2 level that I have accomplished long before.
This guy tends to say baseless things like this. Who that has a common sense can keep saying such groundless things? It disgusts me far more than animations.
Calm down there. You said "I was contradicting myself" BECAUSE I was being subjective while I said he needs to be objective. AND I said "He needs to be objective WHEN he wants to say someone's WRONG" I DIDN'T say "We always need to be objective", so I haven't said anything contradictory to myself at this point in time.
Geez... What a baby. And one more thing. Would you please stop blasting this thread with any more of your stupid comments? Thank you.
>>507 To get an idea, look up the movie 君の名は。 and see how well it has been received. That's the kind of anime movies non-otaku people watch these days. And I'm not "defending" those things. I just think those are not something that is worth making a fuss about even if you don't like anime.
My point is that what you said in the last couple sentences in >>490 is logically incorrect, as otakus are not the ones responsible for the flyers/ads. I don't care if you hate anime or not.
>>516 Alright, I got it. It's not otaku's faults that these ads are now everywhere.
Let me clarify again. I'm not hating on their stuff, I just don't like having those stuff around where it's not supposed to be.
Of course they receive positive reactions from the audience because the audience went through the trouble going to movie theaters, payed some money and watched it, Plus, movies usually get high ratings unless it horribly messes up in visual or screenplay. This is especially the case for the ones like animation, because animation are primarily for minor audience (kids won't notice a little mess-up, do they?).
And they don't bother me at all, because they've been kept to the right places all the way through. But once it's outside of their field and makes their way into other areas like ads/stations/shops/restaurants etc. Don't you find it a bit too much? Because whether you like it or not, anime in the styles like the movie that you just mentioned aren't fully accepted by general population; particularly from senior generation. I also don't like to have people from other countries pointing their fingers at us and say "Hey, it's the country of anime!!"
>>517 By "look up", I meant you should get information about the movie. That movie is the fourth highest grossing film of all time in Japan, first being Sen to Chihiro (Ghibli), second Titanic, and third Frozen (Disney). If people felt so uncomfortable about that anime style like you do, they wouldn't have gone to see it in the first place. And I don't see why all ads should be senior-friendly at all times, especially companies like Nissin, McDonald's, and Benesse of all things. How much is too much depends on the person.
>>520 Why it needs to be senior-friendly? Because companies owe a certain level of responsibility to the society. It's called "corporate compliance". They always need to be considerate about how consumers feel of their activities. Companies should immediately cease their own activities based on public opinions, even if what they are doing were reasonable and working very well for them. Haven't you ever heard of the news that some commercials were dropped? Or they had to, because people hated it so badly that the requests were made by people with a petition.
I had no idea that movie was so popular that it made a huge hit, I can totally understand the other three though. That alone doesn't really account for how well these anime are actually accepted by people. It might be? But maybe it was just the movie was exceptionally good.
But seriously, can you honestly say you won't feel uncomfortable/embarrassed even a bit with these anime ads being there all around you? To make it easier for you to understand the point I'm trying to make here, I'll give you an example. Let's suppose that you liked these anime, can you then proudly say it aloud that you like watching them to people around you, just as saying your hobbies are listening to music or playing sports? If you can't, isn't that because you're embarrassed about it too? Think realistically here, because you do sound like you're saying all these stuff so you don't have to concede to other's opinions.
>>528 The bad news is not only that. Some Korean people who lives in Japan enter the famous university like Tokyo university without taking normal exam. From back door. I can’t forgive the advantages of the kind of people.
>>533 Yep, the kind of people are given many privileges by the government. In addition to that, most politicians in Japan are Korean. It’s up to you wether you believe or not.
>>526 If those ads are so unpopular among the public and get a lot of complaints, they will be dropped, like >>503 said. I never claimed anything contrary.
Not being senior-friendly doesn't necessarily mean being harmful to seniors. If it does mean that, it was just my poor English. I just don't believe your premise that seniors are actually irritated by those commercials like you are.
And no, I don't feel uncomfortable with those ads at all, at least with those 3 commercials. Like I said, I don't care if you hate anime or not. That's a matter of personal preference. If you hate it, you can hate it. That's not my business.
>>532 >>535 You mean that people are making up fake stories in order to distract from the main issue? That's very typical. In my country the government does that very often. Every time there's a real scandal they come up with a fake scandal that's even bigger and more outrageous, but obviously fake. So the discussion strives away from the real issue to pointless fights. However, right now the media all around the world is discussing the many ways in which japanese society discriminates against women. I was wondering what do you think of this. Are you guys happy that this issue is finally being brough up? Or are you embarrassed or angry that japanese society is being criticized by people around the world?
I don't care a bit how the world sees Japan. But I'm pretty uncomfortable with being pointed at and branded "an oprrssor" when never in my life have I done anything discriminatory against women. I do admit that I've been mean to some women sometimes but that's not because they're women. I just don't like some people regardless of their sex.
>>540 I don't know much about the university scandal, but if some filthy sickos got caught and exposed, then that's a good thing.
As for the foreign media calling our country an oppressive shithole, that's what they do everytime there is some scandal of that kind. They did the same thing when some shitty male politician heckled some shitty female politician by yelling something about giving birth to children. A bunch of western journalists gathered together and commented how awful it was. If I remember correctly, some journalist from Europe (I think she was Bulgarian) was like this:
"Such a backward country... In this day and age, something like this would never happen in my country."
And I sometimes think I'm glad I wasn't born in the West because of things like this.
By the way, if you search this thread, "イモ MM" posters seem to be either GOD or the site-advertising shill. And since it's not GOD, ベーイモ MM56-d8l1 could be the shill. His writing style seems to be different, but the shill has a record of attacking Koreans, so you should at least suspect him. Either way, ベーイモ MM56-d8l1 is a troll of some sort.
>>544 I think it's correct that Japan is a backward country. Look at our country, how high the number of elderly people, the debt we hold. I'm disappointed with this country. Japan cannot anything without the US. Even more, that was one of aim for the West that Japan became weaker.
>>546 I think Japan will be non-backward if you stop whining like a dog and start supporting the right politicians, listening to the right economists/commentators, etc.
Goodness is important, but it will be troubled if everyone becomes a good person. Violence is a necessary evil. If so, stupidity and idiots would be necessary evil. Even in the United States, a stupid president is chosen once in decades, but I think that is also necessary evil.
>>555 The right politicians are nowhere to be seen in current Japan. In my opinion,we’d better to live oneself without depending on politics. Stupid media too. Also, I believe Trump is better than democrats like Hilary, Obama and Bush actually. But Japan follows democrats.
Interpreting jokes is the most difficult. When I ask Google assistant "make me laugh", their response is always incognizable for me. For example, "How do you make a tissue dance? Put a little boogie in it". It just makes me confuse rather than laugh.
How do you define the highly educated? Most private schools have unique entrance exam systems so the fact that you went to privileged schools does not necessarily mean you made a high academic achievement or well prepared for the society.
It's mostly idiots who have babies. Japan's birth rate is low because Japanese are smart. You should have to pass an IQ test to have a baby. If you fail, your baby gets burnt alive.
> It's mostly idiots who have babies. Japan's birth rate is low because Japanese are smart. You should have to pass an IQ test to have a baby. If you fail, your baby gets burnt alive.
It's so hot. It's unbearable. It's not fair. 36 degrees, 37 degrees, 38 degrees, temperatures is increasing day by day. Maybe we underestimated the effect of global warming and now we are paying the price for it.
I'm very concerned about the Olympic Games. Are you really going to hold it in August 2020? We'd better put off it to October.

>>558 There are some good politicians working hard to fight the failed-for-two-decades establishment and fix the country. There are also some good non-henchman economists and commentators, especially on the less controlled media like the radio, local TV stations, and internet. If you insist on ignoring them, then you are in no position to be disappointed with the country as you are part of the problem you are whining about.
I was rooting for the French prosecution on the suspected Olympic bribery case, because there has been some stinky things about the Tokyo Olympics like that logo guy. But it ended with nothing, it seems.

Also, if Japan‘s politicians are real Japanese, they would not so submissive dogs. They seem to be not capable. Why? Because they are not Japanese actually.
> >>613 > Don’t forget poodle too. > > Also, if Japan‘s politicians are real Japanese, they would not so submissive dogs. > They seem to be not capable. Why? > Because they are not Japanese actually.
That rumour is so famouse. But,no one knows the true face? What has been up there in the politics?!
>>620 Yeah, you’re right. No one knows the truth. But there are too much mysterious coincidences politically, religiously and historically. I think it’s true that many Japanese could be Jewish descendants.
Generally, Christian countries are tolerant of diversity and weakness of our human kind, while Japan, Israel and the President Stupid Trump are likely to refuse them.
Apparently, Japan was made by Christiany. That is why the letter ‘’本’’ has a cross at the bottom. Also, Christ is enshrined in the Ise grand shrine. ‘Tenshou-daijin’ and ‘Christ’ are the same.
>>630 I’m not kidding. Some people know this truth, but most people doesn’t know about this. Every religious like buddhism came from Christianity. It doesn’t matter you don’t believe me!
Religious faith is marvelous, and falling into this will result in losing all intelligence. People with intelligence originally are respected because they can correctly judge things. But if he is being inflicted by religion it seems to be correct at first glance but it can not be relied upon. It is unfortunately infected with religious beliefs, regardless of intelligence, just like disease.
It is widely believed blood type affects personalities in Japan. Some scientists published papers to support this hypothesis in the early 20th but subsequent studies denied it. Though, the superstition still prevails in Japan today. Many foreigners feel this unreasonable or unfounded but there is a possibility that it really affects personalities because of imprinting. We've been told so many times like "you must be blood type A because you are discreet" This kind of imprinting could actually modify someone's personalities.
But wait, was the Internet supposed to make us happier, or any technology for that matter? I don't feel any happier than I was before the invention of the Internet, computers or smartphones or whatever. They might have improved my life but haven't made me happier in the slightest bit.
It depends on how you use the Internet. There are reports that spending too much time on social media is not good for your health. So you have to control the way you use it.
That was the time media had dominance over information. They could control public opinions. They seem to believe they can do it even now. That's the reason the word, fake news, had emerged.
i approve summer time system in japan. it could fuck up Japanese mind nicely. i think most Japanese have a conservative mind and brain. i want to destroy the silly Japanese vibrations.
Fake news is revolving around the globe. Media fiercely criticize politicians when they lies but they keep silent when their false reports are debunked.
When I casually turned on the TV and watched Princess Kako giving a speach in English, I found her speaking skills were not as fluent as returnee students'. However, I love her English because such students sound like native English speakers, not Japanese. Do you think I am partial to her?
Devastating typhoon. Many areas recorded the strongest ever wind speed. It's crystal clear that global warming is destroying us. We underestimated how much we damaged the Earth.
Red fox and green tanuki noodles are very delicious. I especially like green tanuki. They change tastes depending on the region of Japan. People in the west of Japan like a little bit bland tastes and those in the east like strong taste.
>>723 On the /int/ board of 4chan there are plenty of Japanese posters. https://boards.4chan.org/int/ There is also almost always a Japanese language thread here, and usually a Japanese learning thread (DJT) https://boards.4chan.org/int/catalog#s=japanese Sometimes in the Learn Japanese thread, Japanese people will ask for help with English, but aside from that there really aren't many people asking for help (with English) Still, there are quite a decent number of Japanese posters on this board so you should chat if you want to! I don't think that they are common on the other boards though.
>>723 yes, you are welcome to make threads on 4chan! If you say you are from 5ch/2ch most people will definitely be ok with you posting, and will probably be happy about it.
723 is a long time troll/shill in this thread. He has been caught replying to his own post (which is called 自作自演 in Japanese). Don't talk to him. And I suspect he's some gaijin.
This New York Times article includes a Japanese translation. This is the first time I saw it on the paper. This is a good opportunity to compare my reading speed in Japanese and English. It took me four times more time to read in English. Too slow... I have to stick with dictionaries. I refer to them 20 times.
>>733 Keep it up, and you'll finally be able to speak hentai Japanese. In my case, I just read doujinshi translated into hentai English too, thanks to darn translation commissions. Since C94 took place last month, you can now see tons of new stuff on those sites that I just told you about.
Teaching Japanese in English is extremely difficult due to my lack of knowledge about Japanese and limitations in English. Someone asks the difference between で and に like 家の近くに店が出来る and 家の近くで店が出来る. We differentiate them instinctively, and thus don't know how to teach it. So I have to look it up before teaching.
に describes a place where something exists and で describes a place where something is done. So the former sentence is more natural. But if we remove 家 from the sentences like 近くに店が出来る and 近くで店が出来る both become natural and only nuances change slightly. The former emphasizes a place where a store is built while the latter focuses more on the fact that a store is built.
I'm thinking about writing this in another site but ceased to do it and instead write it in here for practicing English. The site requires accurate explanations and decent English that alienates me...
this time i saw many times that serena williams was called as GOAT. so i checked the meaning and found a answer.
"Sometimes people call the player who messes up to lose the game the goat. But the GOAT that I mean is the Greatest of All Time: G-O-A-T. So let’s find athletes competing these days who are the Greatest of all time at what they do. Consider New York Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera."
A girl pop group performed on TV last night. They consist of several nationals who speak some Japanese. They remind me of the importance of precise pronunciation. I though as long as you can communicate in the language your pronunciation is okay but it's not. A accent makes communication difficult. I shouldn't be complacent about the present situation.
Now I begin to learn Chinese whose accent is vastly different from Japanese or English. This provides me with good opportunities to think about pronunciations.
I can relate to you. I want to improve my pronunciation too.; hopefully make it perfect even. But I don't know that is necessarily the right attitude to take. Just think about it. How much time and energy would it take to perfect your pronunciation, and by extention, to learn the A to Z of English idioms and phrasal verbs? At leat 10,000 hours. Even more. You also might have to learn to use English articles(a/the), modal verbs(can/will/may, etc) and so on. And all of this is just to make it easier to communicate with NATIVE SPEAKERS, and native speakers only. How unjust it is that we should dedicate thounsands of hours just to make them feel comfortable, not vice versa. Besides, it's way too ridiculous to set your eyes on native speakers only, when there are tremendous numbers of English speakers out there whose mother tongue is not English. You don't have to have native speaker's fluency to communicate with them. It is even possible that you might just baffle them with your native-like fluency.
>>779 I totally agree with you. It is a waste of time to be perfect so the target for non-native speakers should be near perfect. Still, it takes a lot of time as you said. The last night TV show makes me think about something that I have never cared about: pronunciation.
Nobody laughs anymore, even in a scornful way. They've been killing each other for years with their politically correct guns. You need not express your derision anymore, hehe.
Thank you for your comment. It is difficult for non-native speakers to exude their intent so the word might be useful for them. W, Japanese equivalent of the word, is still widely used in 5Chan.
I have some reservations about the content but it tells me a lot about the tennis player and the importance of pronunciation. "hafu" is used four times!
Personally I don't think hafu is an offensive word. Nips say "half" like kind of "hafu" 'cause japanese words always end with a vowel. That's why FAKKU is FAKKU.
Toyosu is a terribly boring place. It is so inconvenient. Amusement facilities are very little there. Only pachinko is there. I would be depressed if I live there.
>>803 I like peaceful places. And i'm assuming you already live in Japan, so it's not as fascinating to you. But it looks like paradise compared to the US.
>>804 If you are a bachelor and plan to live alone, my recommendation to live in Tokyo would be Kasai or Nishikasaki. The reason is that the rent there is reasonable. The nearby station is lively and you can have numerous food options. Kasai station has a direct bus that goes to both Narita and Haneda airport.
One of the reasons is that I'm tired of Japanese, though it's not like I hate reading or speaking Japanese. I just want to gain a new sensation, so I'm studying English.
Today I learned Nashi is rare in Western countries. The call it Japanese pears while we call pears of Western origin Western pears. Nashi is in season now but It's been a while since I last ate seiyo-nashi: Western pears.
I failed to answer her phone call. Obviously it was no intentional as I was taking shower when she gave me a call. It's a very trivial thing, isn't it?
Reddit is difficult to use in that I don't know how strongly I should retort when I encounter comments based on misunderstandings. I get used to the standard of 5ch so much that I feel the need of restraint. But retorting in moderate tone is very difficult when speaking in other languages. It is far easier to use the strongest words but of course it doesn't seem adequate in the site. Again, I feel I'm not best suited to the site or that I have to improve my English drastically.
That brainlet has autism and keeps destroying this thread. This thread has been desolate for a long time, because of the brainlet. You can check what the brainlet did to this thread by reading the old threads.
For those who want to communicate with natives, go to 4chan. It's a 5ch-like BBS. (technically derived from Futaba channel.)
Make sure not to visit the sites introduced by the brainlet.
Learning Chinese helps me improve my English because it gives me a new mindset of learning other languages. And NHK offers a good TV program of Chinese. A Chinese assistant speaks perfect Japanese, which also encourages me a lot by showing the possibilities of mastering other languages completely. But it is difficult to master English without the speaking with natives. I drastically improved my English while staying in the US with host families but my English severely deteriorated after I left the US and not using it for a while. Some people suggest I take online eikaiwa schools but I will be a customer in the schools so it is a little different from real life conversations. As a result I cannot push the limitations in such circumstances. So my motivations to improve English now waned and Chinese become my main focus.
>>914 Sorry, if I sound any captious to you. I think you wanted to contrast the quality of this thread with how many people are there in here. so the meaning should be clearer by omitting `a` from the sentence: few people. : )
I come to know that voice assistant is useful to change the volume. It takes time to turn the volume down from the maximum to the minimum. But you can immediately change it by just saying like 音量10%. The same goes for the brightness.
This is not a right place for you. Only people who are at intermediate level or more can join our conversation. Thus you must get out of here right now.
>>958 Keep writing and heaping up mistakes. That's the only way to improve writing. Write whatever you want regardless of whatever other people might say. There's only one person who continues annoying others but dismiss it. But frankly speaking, it seems to me you are making mistakes on purpose lol.
Before, someone said the only rule in here is not criticizing others' English. But a nasty person sticks to here and keep defying the rule. This person also alienate foreigners coming here. As a result, this thread is completely abandoned. This is unfortunate indeed.
